REDLINE Band Blog: Slipknot/Machine Head Auckland concert

With their eagerly awaited record, Trapped Inside, NZ rock band Redline establishes itself as one of New Zealand's most progressive metal rock music bands. Success came quickly for the band who have already performed alongside Disturbed, P.O.D, Alter Bridge and Evanescence, played at the inaugural Metal Day Out Festival, as well as supporting Blindspott and The Bleeders.

Their video for Time After Time was also nominated for best independent music video at the 2005 Juice TV Music Awards.

Slipknot/Machine Head Auckland concert

I headed along to the Slipknot/Machine Head concert at Trusts Stadium in my hood, West Auckland on Wednesday night.

All I can say is that it was a brilliant night of metal with both bands fully kicking some major ass!

It was Machine Head's first ever time playing in NZ and Slipknot promised it wouldn't take three and a half years to come back and play again.

Unfortunately I missed kiwi support New Way Home as they were on ridiculously early at like 6:50pm but I heard they played a great set.

The concert was publicised to start at 8pm on most websites and doors were at 6:30pm?!

I got to meet Machine Head guitarist Phil Demmel briefly afterwards, great guy and an amazing guitarist.

I just had to ask him about how Machine Head get there signature harmonic sound in their riffs, a real guitar geek question I know!

Both bands flew out the next day to carry on with the Australian leg of the tour.

I saw Machine and Slipknot play together about 4 years ago in St. Paul, MN.
Then I got to meet them after the show. Woo.
